Our clients wanted to create a unique fuel station that would meet the needs of locals and travellers, while fitting their vision of a retro style café.

Always up for a challenge, we set our minds to figuring out how to incorporate new and compliant equipment into a retro design aesthetic. Everything we created needed to comply with all HSNO regulations including electrical zones, whilst bringing the client’s dream to life.

Our team started by completing full in-house design and consenting works, including the design of the new dispensers, in collaboration with a signage company.

We then installed new pipework to take 91/95 and diesel from existing tanks to the new dispenser location. We also supplied and installed a new power supply and switchboard, which created more space for the client’s building.

With pipework complete we fabricated and assembled the retro-look dispensers and payment pedestal in our depot before carefully transporting these to Mangaweka.

On site, our team finished the job by installing the dispensers and coordinating the signage installation, including new temporary shelter design complete with CCTV.

While COVID threw us a few curve balls along the way, we still managed to design, fabricate, assemble and install the dispensers from scratch in under five months.

The result is a definite showstopper – 1940’s style fuel pumps on the outside, 20th century standards on the inside!
