A nationwide fuel distributor was concerned with the cost of reactive maintenance on their South Island network of unmanned sites and customer loaned facilities.

To help reduce their expenditure, we developed a regular site visit programme that encompasses tailored maintenance schedules specific to the needs of each site.

To prepare the plan, we needed to understand each site’s location, induction processes and equipment so that our team would arrive with the right set of spare parts.

We then prepared an individual preventative maintenance checklist for each site based on site-specific requirements and setting, whether working farm, industrial site or factory.

Following each visit our maintenance team sends the completed checklist and supporting photos to our customer, along with comments on any repair work identified and completed.

We recommended, and the client accepted, that our team has discretion to undertake quick fixes (within a pre-approved limit) while on site to replace consumables and rectify environmental compliance or safety matters. This saves our clients additional costs to revisit the site.

We also have a formal annual review to discuss how we are performing and if any changes are required.

Our client is pleased to have noticed a significant reduction in their repairs and maintenance spend. Furthermore, their unmanned sites are experiencing less downtime and with regular upkeep, the need for costly and reactive repair work has diminished.
